Optimized Sperm Penetration Assay 

The above photos shows a zona-free hamster egg showing more than 20 penetrated sperm with swollen heads (clear areas associated with tails created as the sperm DNA begins to decondense). For reference, a few unreacted sperm can be seen still bound to the egg membrane just above the center.
